I'm Kimberly, and I am also a very tired, very overwhelmed educator! I work at a Private College Preparatory School in Houston, TX and I absolutely LOVE my job. Though I didn't plan to be a teacher, I have loved (almost!) every minute of it!
I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in History and a minor in English from Angelo State University in 2015. I had NO desire to be a teacher when I went to school. (My mom taught PreK and Kinder for years, and since I was a kid, I just KNEW it wasn't for me. How wrong I was!)
I was planning to go to law school or grad school for Museum Studies (I even did a 10-hour-a-week internship at a museum in a whirlwind, 21-credit semester, WITH a 20-hour-a-week job, because I was CRAZY. Man, I wish I still had the ENERGY. Sigh.)
At the end of my Freshman year at ASU, I was offered a job in the Writing Center on campus because they needed a History student who knew Chicago Style, and that Writing Center is where I fell in love with educating students. We all know how addicting it is to see those "lightbulbs" go off when a student finally "gets it." I couldn't get enough!
When I graduated in 2015, I decided to try the teaching thing out, full time. I worked at a private school first and then got my teaching credentials while working as a Puplic School Paraprofessional in a Behavior Unit. I have taught many middle and upper school courses, including Theatre, US History, and of course, Literature!
I'm also a new wife to my favorite meteorologist-slash-best friend, Kyle. We got married in 2024, Vegas Style, by Elvis in the back of a pink Cadillac, and if that doesn't tell you something about us, I don't know what will! We are big on family, fun, hiking, traveling, and caring for our fur babies, Fitz, Rigby, Salem and Sabrina. (Psst.. That's Salem in my main photo!)
I'm passionate about helping teachers find new and innovative ways to make our teaching both more efficient for us and more fun for our students. I hope this community can help you do just that!
